THE BRITANNIA NORTH STAR
Our Popular 10 inch Britannia North Star, is a gaff rigged boat has been inspired by the vintage Victorian Bristol Pilot Cutters that were used to guide ships safely past the Scilly Isles and around the Coasts of Devon and Cornwall. The design of Pilot Cutters owed their shape to the need for a light easy to handle vessel that was stable in heavy seas. The Britannia North star is hand carved from a solid piece of timber, fitted with a tough long keel made from stainless steel keel to help provide straight-line stability in the water.
The diminutive size of the Britannia North Star does not detract from her performance but she should considered to be a cruiser she is fitted with a pair of fully adjustable jib sails over a bowsprit and a mainsail allowing you to make the best use of the conditions at the time of sailing. The Britannia North Star is small enough to fit in the car and the Britannia North Star can be easily carried down to the model yacht pond.
Britannia North Star pond yachts are all hand-carved from a solid piece of timber and finished in varnish or painted in a variety of different colours. Beautifully hand sewn Dacron sails have been fitted to provide the perfect aerofoil shape giving an outstanding sailing performance.
The Britannia North Star is the perfect pond yacht for the traditionalist, and can be sailed virtually anywhere, but with good performance under sail, It is advisable that the Britannia North Star is sailed using a suitable tether. A beautiful varnished wooden display stand is provided to allow you to display the Britannia North Star when she is out of the water.
